was just in the duece tournament, and busted with about 30 people to go. At one point i had 4% of the chips so it seemed like a really good shot to win some bets, but it all went downhill from there. I got moved to a table with david baker, who i stake, and called someone from fulltilt who was supposed to put a blog up just to mention that. I don’t know why it didnt make it up, but i guess i’ll try to make more sure in the future if im deep in any tables with people im either rly good friends with or stake just to make sure everyone can check for themselves and know nothing shady is going on.
Im on huge lifetilt from busting right now, and have 1/2 my starting chips in the 400some player 1500$ stud tournament, so im gonna try to take a shower or something and find a way to get some motivation and go grind that one, but it’ll probably be hard after just busting from a tournament where i had 4% of the chips at one point.
Dave benefield who’s one of my best friends, and i lived (and i guess technically still fake-live) w/ is at the ft of the 5k nl, so my plan is to shower, then go there and sweat him- where he’ll hopefully bust yellowsub (who im fake rooting against since i only owe 12.5% of him), then somehow have some patience back to go play the stud and win some bracelets.

June 11th, 2010 at 5:56 amTom,
I’m a new reader of the blog. I really enjoy your insight. I wish you the best of luck in taking home the prop bets you have riding on a WSOP bracelet this year. You’ve proved you have what it takes.
You mention that you stake David Baker. Just out of curiosity, how many players DO you stake? You don’t have to be specific about who they are (unless you don’t mind doing so), but I’m curious how many people are relying on your bankroll to get them into tournaments or cash games.
Also, were you ever staked into high-stakes cash games when you were getting started? Or did you manage to just earn your way up to the point where you could play at high limits?
Thanks for the updates!
Chad
P.S. Hope to see you out in Vegas in a few weeks. Going out there with my father (our annual trip since I turned 21) and my girlfriend. We’ll be playing in the $1,500 NL Hold’em Event #49.

June 16th, 2010 at 10:13 pmHey Tom,
keep the blog coming. Believe it or not I don’t read any others – if Phil had one maybe I’d read his but I think it’s pretty clear you and him are a level above everyone else. Don’t suck cause I’ve been preaching the Dwan gospel for a while now. Good luck,

June 23rd, 2010 at 1:46 pmHi,
My husband is turning 40 on November 6, we will be in Vegas to celebrate (he is very good at poker, and always likes a challenge)… so I decided to surprise him with a game. As far as I know he thinks Tom is the best player he’s seen and would be fantastic if he gets to play with Tom on his 40th. Thanks in advance!!
Rgds

August 12th, 2010 at 8:25 pmTom Dwan, In the Netherlands they’ve just broadcasted the million-dollar-cash game (2009?)in which you’ve made a perfect “all-in” call against phil Ivey for 1.1 million dollar. I was really impressed. The biggest ever bet. Fantastic. Ivey is not one of my favourites as he’s always looking as if he’s drewling with his mouth open. But the thing that most impressed me was your icy-cool face after winning the pot. If I was in your place and won 1,1 million I probably would have got a heartattack of all the tension or leave at once with all the winnings just to get out of there. Playing for $2000 would make me show all my nerves…hahaha. Guess being a pokerstar means having all your nerves under control and somehow being a special person. You do it very well. I wish you all the best for the future. Hope to see you on TV many more times (with a lot of success!) We’ll most probably never meet…anyway; take care!
