Hiya, just woke up and figured it was a good time for a blog. First thing i’ll talk about is how awesome san francisco was. I’ll definitely be going back pretty often. We went to an awesome breakfast place called dotties, which is 2 blocks from the clift hotel (dont remember streets). Depending when you get there you need to wait some amount of time between 15min and 1.5hrs. We had to wait about 25min or so, but it was definitely worth it, as the whole breakfast was super amazing. Unfortunately i only had about 24 hours there because my parents were still in vegas (they came to visit me for 17days) and i had already missed them for 4 days, so i wanted to head back. On the way to the airport I hit gary denko’s with jonas (riverboatking) and zach (crazyzachary). It was pretty awesome, and then i was on the way back to vegas.

Having my parents here was pretty sweet, but they just left Sunday. Yesterday though my college roomie, eric, whos super awesome flew in for a few days, so i probably won’t be playing much until thursday when he leaves, and then I have a friends birthday this weekend- so it’ll probably be a light poker week. Also eric’s setting up all my computer stuff- because over the summer i’ll probably be playing more short sessions while i play a decent amount of series events. When i’m playing long sessions i’d rather be on a laptop so I can move around and play a few hours on a bed, a few hours outside, a few at a table etc. But if i’m playing shorter sessions for an hour or two before/ after tournaments everyday, i’d rather be on a 30 inch desktop display.

I’m gonna be trying to blog a bit more often, and for the last week i’ve actually kept up with that. I read a bunch of the responses to the last two blogs, and i’ll try to do that more often. No proofreading again on this one- hope its legible.

Hey Tom, I thought it was interesting that you said you play your long sessions on your laptop. When I play on mine I can only fit 6 tables on the screen, and I know lately you’ve been playing most of the games running from 50-100+. How big is your laptop screen? (Actually, I guess it must just be that you cascade tables.)

Do you watch your Poker after dark or High Stakes Poker episodes? If so, do you think in hindsight that your 260k river barrel vs. Ivey in the hand QTKdd x 6c hand is profitable after seeing he almost called with near the weakest part of his range? It might be a dumb question since A6 = AQ = lesser two pair, except for card removal, but I was interested in that hand, like so many other people.

Nice to see you blogging Tom. Make sure you write a title for your blog posts though: I follow the blog through the RSS feed and I have no link to click on if there’s no title.

    Cheers!

San Francisco is one of my favorite city. There’s little Italy in one corner and China town in another. I love their clam chowder soup and crabs by the port. Clubbing in their is so much fun too.

It’s always fun watching you play poker. Hopefully I’ll be able to watch live on the wpt event in vegas. Which event will you be participating on?

maaaaaaan how do you play in bed on your laptop? I tried it some time ago but I always timed out/missclicked bet sizes with that touchpad, haha. Kinda tilted me so I quit :)

I like how u update so regularely now – your blog is actually on my computer-turnon list, hehe, just a quick browse through all the things I follow actively ^^

goodluck at the tables if you get to play, im off to university.

Awesome blog Tom, thanks for updating. Mad props to you and that awesome poker skill. Watching both online and “live” (HSP & PAD), your moves absolutely amaze me. It’s like a lottery trying to figure out what you’ll do next,……..entertaining, informative, and mind boggling.

BTW, I’m glad you corrected your bluffing “tell” from Poker After Dark before H.S.P……..good job.

hey dwan, howd you start playing such high stakes in such short amount of time. I’ve been playing for like 6 months and started with 50 but i’m still playin like .25/.50 n up like 2500. Did u follow bankroll management or did u just go up n up n up n just kept winning? I find it hard to increase so quickly. If you could, give some tips ;) thanks

I like watching you play. It’s always fun. The one episode in high stakes poker that you are heads-up with Phil Ivey is so awesome. I can’t believe you were able to pull out a big bluff like that. But it’s nice to read about your daily life besides poker. I hope there is more blogs to come. :) Looking forward to it.

I love San Francisco especially if I’m staying in one of the hotels in downtown. Clubbing is fun but I like the food too. At the Pier there’s Seafood and the famous Boudin sourdough bread. In one side of town is little italy and next door is china town. What kind of foods do u like?

i like the way you play, i just tarted playing about a year ago and i dont have a success story to go along with it but i have found myself doing well and making really good decisions by the river after watching you play. i didnt understand at first how you could do such things but after watching what you did in certain hands on each street really helped me learn from it. of course i had to try it myself and lose a lot here n there before i got into a better rhythm, but now i am successfully taking down freerolls and hopefully ill be playing in the big games with you one day. gl to u..

It’s good to hear you still cherish the relationships you made before your big score, as described in your last blog.
Taking a week off of poker to kick it with an old college buddy is pretty awesome!
You seem down-to-earth and loyal, especially compared to players like Hellmuth who always want to spend time with celebrities.
Keep up the good work Tom, always a pleasure to read your blog!

    Sup Tom,

That bluff against Ivy was sick, well played and pulled off. Good to see someone take him down a notch from the 1M he had sittin in front of him lol.

Not sure if you still do but i saw a clip on youtube before you turned 21 about you backing people into events, perhaps you have interest in a backing? I haven’t played many big live tournies, just the NAPT vanetion back in feb but didn’t go too well.

Anyhow, you prob got my email from this if you are interested drop me a quick note and back and forth perhaps we can chat and work something out (as i know how you have the philosophy of win all the money lol).

    Hey Tom,

Matt S., your Middle School teacher from RPS, writing here. You are often a topic of conversation back at Prep. I often share stories about your amazing play online and on High Stakes Poker. Anyway, you should see how the campus has changed, it looks great. Plans for an addition to the Upper School, new cafeteria and theater, when funds are adequate.

I was in Vegas over Spring Break for a couple of days. I am thinking of returning during the WSOP.

We’d love to hear from you at RPS. You can e-mail me through the RPS address.

Glad to see you are running well again. Good Luck!

If I might –perhaps you should consider adding a few images. I dont mean to disrespect what youve said; its very enlightening, indeed. However, I think would respond to it more positively if they could be something tangible to your ideas. Keep it up, but put a little more into it next time.
